Hermit Crab Beach

At low tide, Roger Power Island reveals a magnificent white sand beach. It’s really a little piece of the Caribbean dropped here in Nova Scotia.

I had heard for a few years that there are actually Hermit Crabs on this little paradise, but had never been lucky enough to spot one.. yet.

So after examining this large jellyfish, I decided to look around the beach for these little aliens.

Sure enough the name Hermit Crab Beach stands true.  The beach is located on Roger Power Island and is only accessible at low tide. It’s a great little swimming hole, perfect for an afternoon picnic.

The location is a 20 minute paddle from East Coast Outfitters. It can be treacherous in certain conditions: but in calm conditions – this is a low-tide paradise that is a must-see during any Lower-Prospect paddle. Check with the Guides before heading out.

Enjoy the photos of this little Hermit Crab.
